Step 1 

The camera’s optical axis must be positioned perpendicular to the white-balance card.

Step 2

Ensure the white-balance card is centered in the frame and that both lower crop marks are fully visible. Capture one reflected image as well to provide the dental lab with valuable information about the surface texture and gloss.

Step 3

Capture one cross-polarized image using Polar_Eyes, positioning the white-balance card slightly below the incisal edges. If the area of interest is a lateral or canine, adjust the card’s position accordingly.

Caution

Be aware of dehydration: After more than 2 minutes of air exposure, dehydration occurs and shade photographs will need to be taken on a different day.

What You Need

• A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a macro lens for high-quality, consistent dental photography.
• A ring flash or twin flash to provide controlled lighting.
• Polar_eyes cross-polarization filters for eliminating surface reflections.

• Images need to be captured in RAW format.
