2D Smile Design

2D Digital Smile Design uses digital technology that integrates a patient’s dental and facial proportions with high-quality digital photos to create a mockup of the final outcome.

A dentist or lab technician uses special digital smile design software to create a visual representation on a patient’s photo of a new and healthy smile.

We are a fully-equipped digital smile design planning centre servicing Australia-wide. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art digital smile design technology which enables us to quickly and efficiently produce quality mockups of your patients’ final outcome.

Oceanic Dental Digital Smile Design Process:

  1. Patient Consultation
The first step is a consultation with the patient to understand their health requirements, desires, concerns, and the goals and aesthetics for their smile.
  2. Facial Analysis
Photographs of the patient’s face and smile are taken from various angles, showing the patient’s smile and the composition of the teeth. This includes the gums, lips, and other facial features.
  3. Digital Oral Scanning
The patient’s oral structures are scanned using an intraoral scanner to create digital impressions of the teeth and gums.
  4. Smile Design
Using smile design software, our dental technician analyses facial and dental images, and may alter aspects of the smile such as the shape, size, and position of the teeth.
  5. Patient Review and Consultation
The patient reviews the proposed design visual and may request alterations at this stage, ensuring their expectations are considered in the treatment plan.
  6. Mock-up/Trial Smile
A physical model or direct mock-up is created to trial the new smile in the patient’s mouth. This allows the patient and the dentist to evaluate the function and aesthetics of the restoration.
  7. Teeth Preparation
Once the patient approves the design, a dentist may prepare the teeth for the restorative work. This may include veneers, crowns and implants.
  8. Install Restoration
The restorations are fitted and adjusted if necessary. They are finally bonded or cemented into place.
